Background

As imperfect human-beings, we organize in a way to compete in business environments such as supply chains. To improve ourselves and our organizations, we must recognize  our  power and limitations.

In this talk, I will introduce organizational and behavioral thinking and  highlight  that supply chains, operated by humans, are not merely stationary and mechanistic.

Instead, supply chains can learn, grow, and adapt, albeit  imperfectly.

Using business examples and my academic research, I will illustrate the power and  principles  of  System Dynamics and Behavioral Operations and how to apply these two lines of thinking in supply chains and operations.

SCOM invite Dr. Li bo,  who is an assistant professor from MIT Ningbo (NSCIIC 宁波(中国)供应链创新学院)

NSCIIC: Ningbo Supply Chain Innovation Institute China (NSCIIC) is an independent, degree-granting academic institution established as a  joint  initiative between the government of Ningbo, China, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The goal of the organization is to become a leader in the field of supply chain education and research. NSCIIC is the sixth such research center established by MIT's Center for Transportation and Logistics and the first of its kind in China. It is part of MIT's Global Supply Chain and Logistics Excellence (SCALE) Network, which includes centers in Colombia, Spain, Luxembourg and Malaysia, in addition to MIT’s main campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
